The name of this post says it all. This seriously tastes like apple pie… In a bowl… For breakfast… Disguised as oatmeal!
This apple pie oatmeal is a great way to start your day! When you’re in need of some healthy carbs and want to satisfy your morning sweet tooth, substitute your bowl of frosted flakes with this bad boy! I promise you wont regret it! It’s low in sugar, organic and delicious!
Now that its getting cooler and the holidays are coming up, I tend to go for something warm and sweet for breakfast! I refuse to change out of my athletic shorts into sweatpants, no matter how cold I am. I don’t know why? I’ll just go around the house, freezing my butt off until I finish my workout and get to take a hot shower! In the meantime, I’ll seek out warmth from the fire place, that is, if my dad made one in our fireplace. If not, I’ll go for the stove top eye and turn it on high, or, sometimes the oven, or if all else fails, the handy dandy hairdryer… It works like a charm! So, I find a little warmth and comfort in this oatmeal because I make mine warm! (Thats what makes it heavenly!)
Here’s how to make it:
First, put 1/4 cup of quick oats into a bowl (or cup).
Then, put 1/4 cup of Udi’s Gluten Free Vanilla Granola! I love this stuff (obviously, the bag is empty) because it’s gluten free and it’s just lightly sweetened. It’s awesome with just almond milk alone! (Where to purchase, Kroger’s, Whole Foods, and Earth Fair).
Now, this is where it gets good!
Add 1/4 cup of Bear Naked Sea Salt Caramel Apple Granola. This stuff… guys… It changes your LIFE! It’s salty and sweet! It’s the only thing I use as a sweetener in this apple pie oatmeal, and that’s all you’ll need as well! (I got it at Kroger, but I’d think any grocery store would have it).
You can use any kind of apple you want for the topping. I used Golden Delicious, because it’s my favorite! I also didn’t use an exact amount. I just tried to cover the top of the oatmeal with the apple slices! You can put as much as you want, though!
Then, sprinkle some cinnamon on top of the apples. I’d say I used about 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
I put about 3/4 cup of almond milk (I always add more later on).
Last, but not least, microwave your heavenly concoction for 50 seconds! I finish mine off with a little more almond milk to cool it down a bit, and to get the texture of creamy/thickness that I want!
Have fun stuffing your face with this healthy, delicious, breakfast!
I hope you all enjoy this recipe as much as I do!
