Taking Things For Granted

How living in the moment has helped me to not take things for granted (as often).

We all do it.. We’ll go a day, months, or even years without truly realizing how blessed we are. Aka, taking things for granted.

It’s so easy to just go on with things and not really appreciate what you have in your life. People tend to focus more on the hard parts of their day/life and ignore the wonderful things.

We could all be much happier if we would take in all the good things. When I say good things, I’m not talking about making a bunch of money, or something huge happening (even though, those aren’t bad things). No, it can be little things, stuff you normally look past. Like, laughing, hearing the birds, having water and food, being healthy, family members, friends, puppies, flowers, the ocean, the mountains, pictures, doing what you love… I could go on forever… The simple things matter more than you (and I) both know and if we didn’t have them, life would be pretty bland.

That’s why it’s good to pay attention to them/appreciate them. That way if something huge and exciting doesn’t happen on an everyday basis, you’ll always have your simple things that keep you happy and grateful.

Lately, I’ve been trying to focus on the exact moment I’m in. What I hear, what I can smell, how I mentally and physically feel, what’s all around me. If I don’t like the way I feel, I try to shift my mood to being happy, peaceful, etc. It’s not the easiest thing in the world, but you can get better and better the more you work on it!

A couple of the things that help me shift my mood is, doing yoga, because it helps me focus on my breath and how my body feels. Meditation, (I’m not talking creepy stuff, guys) just for quieting your mind, basically making your brain shut up about what Becky’s cousin’s daughter’s dog did 10 years ago at your birthday party (know what I mean?). Living in the moment truly helps when you feel that you’ve been taking things for granted. You don’t feel as stressed out, you’re reaction to things that upset you will improve. You’ll be happier! What more could you want? You’ll start noticing how blessed you really are.

Look around expecting to be amazed by little things and you’ll never be disappointed.

I hope you you all are doing good! Don’t forget to check out my new YouTube Channel/videos. I’ll have a new video up this week! I’m thinking a recipe maybe… I don’t know? You guys know food is my fav. If you have any requests, comment and let me know!
